CHALLENGE

How do you design a bold, immersive brand experience that captures the energy, influence, and evolution of hip-hop culture? For the inaugural REVOLT WORLD in Atlanta (Sept. 22–24, 2023), the goal was to create a cohesive visual identity that unified multiple activations across indoor and outdoor spaces while celebrating the 50th anniversary of hip-hop.

APPROACH

As Lead Design Director for the third consecutive year, I led a team to develop and execute a comprehensive design system that brought the event’s “We Are Hip Hop” theme to life. The visual identity had to be bold, scalable, and culturally resonant, ensuring every touchpoint—from festival-wide wayfinding to large-scale environmental graphics—felt immersive and interconnected. Each year, I’ve evolved the design system to reflect the growth of the event while maintaining a strong brand presence.

SOLUTION

  • Developed a cohesive visual identity, integrating branding across all festival elements

  • Led the creation of wayfinding & signage, guiding attendees through multiple venues and activations

  • Designed large-scale environmental graphics, framing main stages, brand activations, and high-traffic areas

  • Built a modular graphic system that adapted to a range of content, from live performances (Don Toliver, Moneybagg Yo, Queen Naija, Yung Miami) to thought leadership panels and cultural conversations

IMPACT

  • Successfully launched REVOLT WORLD as a new live event category, blending entertainment, education, and opportunity

  • Strengthened REVOLT’s brand presence, reinforcing its position at the intersection of hip-hop, culture, and business

  • Designed a visually immersive experience that engaged thousands of attendees and amplified REVOLT’s mission to celebrate the impact of hip-hop worldwide
